Police Foundations Program

  • Peterborough/Lakefield Community Police Service
  • Constable
  • Graduated: 2007
  • Hired: 2007

The Police Foundations program was instrumental in my becoming a police officer. I learned a great deal from all my classes, but perhaps the most important lessons were learned while participating in the field placement program.

I went through the field placement interview with the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service and felt very fortunate afterwards to have been granted the opportunity to complete my placement there. Approximately six months later, in December of 2007, I was hired by Peterborough Lakefield Community Police.

I owe many thanks to the professors at Fleming College. I feel that the interview process for the field placement prepared me for the interview I ultimately had to pass with the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police. I learned how to emphasize my strengths and to be a confident speaker. Furthermore, during my actual placement, I was able to gain valuable in the "field" experience that I was able to call upon during my interview. I know that I benefited greatly from the superb reputation the Police Foundations Program at Fleming College has in the policing community. While attending the Ontario Police College, I talked to numerous Staff Sergeants and Sergeants about Fleming College, each of whom spoke very highly of the Police Foundations Program.

I look forward to my career in policing and the many opportunities that will be available to me as I continue to gain experience and refine my skills.
